Jadakiss – Letter to B.I.G. f. Faith Evans

Jada drops some verses in memory of BIGGIE which is to be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Notorious.

Top 10 George Bush Moments

Letterman’s Top 10 Bush moment, number 7 cracks me up – the shoe throw should be on here though.

Brother Ali: The Rope A Dope Mixtape (Unofficial)

Honestly the worst cover art I have ever seen but this mixtape might have a few Brother Ali tracks you don’t have yet – so check it out. This is worth it alone if you don’t have the Cat Van Bags remix with Slug. I hope some new material drops from him soon.

Brother Ali – The Rope-A-Dope

Back To The Grind

So I’m back from the cabin and it was pretty good stuff – a few days of recovery should do the trick but New Years throws a wrench in that. Anyway I’ll just slip in anything from the last few days in anything today – fortunately for me not much went on. I’ll start off with a Statik Selektah video that features Bun B – it’s a damn good track and its the second single at Stick 2 The Script.

Also check out this interview with Kid Cudi below.

Heading North

I’m off to the cabin for a couple days. I’ll try and play catch up when I get back. Peace.

DJ Khaled – Go Hard (rmx) f. Jay-Z & Kanye West

DJ Khaled – Go Hard (rmx) f. Jay-Z & Kanye West

There were rumors that the remix for this track was gonna be big. It sure was – a nice remixed version of the beat (at least at the start) with an excellent Jay-Z verse has surfaced. I think this is one of the best Kanye’s verses this year and Jay now on board just made this track that much better. BTW this is the same Kanye verse – and the original track is off DJ Khaled’s We Global which dropped in September.

“I’m like Heath Ledger, even if I overdose on drugs mutherfuckers cant kill my buzz”

Jay Rock – East Meets West f. Papoose, Grafh, K-Dot, Stacy Adams & Joell Ortiz

Jay Rock – East Meets West f. Papoose, Grafh, K-Dot, Stacy Adams & Joell Ortiz

I dropped a track from Jay Rock a couple days ago with Lil Wayne – this time he grabs, fittingly, up and coming MCs from the east and west coast. A nice track right here. Good to see Papoose on a track again.

Skateboard hip hop posse Fly Society drop a video for their track Superstar. I love these dudes, they seriously live the life – they run a skateboard company, skate all day, run a record label, make music videos, run a clothing line, make beats and songs just for damn fun and they make money off it.

This is why Mims is hot + Flying Lotus Lock Lockdown Remix

A handful of tracks leaked off MIMs new album Guilt which drops in 09. His last album, I think was pretty much over looked because “This Is Why I’m Hot” sorta put him in the One-Hit-Wonder category. Turns out MIMs is actually a good spitter – he knows how to pick beats too. I say give him another chance, dude has some decent party jams.

+++

Kanye West – Love Lockdown (Flying Lotus Remix)

Flying Lotus (check his MySpace) put out one of the better albums out last year called Los Angeles. Well anyway, he made this ridiculous remix of Love Lockdown – for sure check it. He is a DJ from LA and he makes some pretty beautiful yet danceable tracks. It’s also just nice music to chill out too. He makes all his remixes sound totally different. Check out his version of Weezy’s “A Milli.”

Facebook me if you want an mp3 of A Milli.

Weezy Blog is Back + Mick Boogie Best of 2008 Mixtape

The things I would to to get steak and fries and a back massage every night. Well here he is Weezy bringing his video blog back after a few months – these were hilarious in the past. Weezy talks his Grammys and his documentary. Worth a watch just cause he is such a freak.

As a bonus…would you like to have the Best 20 Lil Wayne songs ever for free? I sorta disagree with this list but David a writer over at The Smoking Section put up 20 Lil Wayne songs for free. Check it out now the funk soul brother.

+++

DJ Mick Boogie thinks you have missed quite a handfull of songs this year so he has decided to put them all on a mixtape for you. Here his his mixtape which is essentially a Best of 2008. This is a pretty damn good list.  Don’t ignore this gem. Head over to Mick’s website right here to check out the tracklist.

Common Sound Session + Nike Zoom IV iDs Commercial

Common does some serious talk about his new album Universal Mind Control on a radio show called Sound Sessions. This interview is a little more interesting than most because he breaks down each individual song on UMC – pretty cool cause each song has a little story  behind it- specifically stories about Kanye West, The Neptunes, Pharrell, Cee-Lo and more. Dope interview thats for sure. Though I understand that way more people hate this album than like it. I’m on the like side.

+++

DJ AM plays comedian Mike Epps in a game of horse for a pair of Nike Air Yeezys, yup thats the shoe Kanye is apparently dropping through Nike this spring. After their game of horse some one else stops by. His name is Kobe Bryant. This is a commericial for Kobe’s new kicks which are basketball but they are low-tops. Pretty dope shit.

Fat Joe – Winding On Me (feat. Ron Browz & Lil Wayne) (Produced by Ron Browz) + Swizz Beatz – Get Loose ft. Fat Man Scoop

Fat Joe – Winding On Me (feat. Ron Browz & Lil Wayne) (Produced by Ron Browz)

Every time these two combine together I hope it recreates the monster that is “Make It Rain.” Of course it doesn’t but how can I complain. This track isn’t a party jam but the beat has a heavy feeling and creeps along to a typical Weezy auto-tuned verse. I usually view Fat Joe as someone who has trouble finding the right flow over certain beats and fortunatley he pulls it off on this one. Hookman of the moment Ron Browz hops on for his version of auto-tune. I think, I dig this track?

+++

Swizz Beatz – Get Loose ft. Fat Man Scoop

Even today when I hear the name Swizz Beatz I immediately think of him as a producer. Apparently Swizz stills views himself as a rapper. To me this is like a quaterback trying to play wide reciever – sure they can catch the ball but they are way better at throwing. Swizz is 10x better as a producer than he is a rapper. Some of the beats he has created over the last 10 years are classics – this dude made the beats that made DMX famous, he made T.I. huge with “Bring Em Out” and has produced tracks for Jay-Z and Nas. Well sure this track has great production – but the rapping sucks.

Check out Swizz Beats production records – quite impressive. And he is banging Alicia Keys – gotta give him props for landing that one.

People Under The Stairs – Acid Raindrops (Live) + Ya Boy – So Mean

People Under The Stairs perform “Acid Draindrops” live. Seriously one of my favorite hip hop songs of all time.

+++

Ya Boy – So Mean ft. T-Pain

This San Fran MC Ya Boy drops a track featuring a T-Pain sample called So Mean – this is off his upcoming mixtape Kush which drops in 2009. He has no problem kicking your ass either.

Album/Mixtape Cover of The Year

Too bad Tony Yayo sucks ass.

Teriyaki Boyz feat. Pharrell & Chris Brown – Work That

Teriyaki Boyz feat. Pharrell & Chris Brown – Work That UPDATE MP3 ADDED

Teriyaki Boyz are a hip hop group from Tokyo, Japan. The four MCs in the group are Ilmari and Ryo-Z from Rip Slyme, VERBAL from m-flo, and WISE. They are often affiliated with Pharrell and his label Star Trek, Billionaire Boys Club Clothing and BAPE. They are signed to a label called (B)Ape Sounds – run by Nigo the founder of Bape, he is also the groups DJ. This track features Chris Brown and Pharrell. Track is mostly in English.

They had a moderate hit with Kanye a year or two back called I Still Love H.E.R. Though most of the verses were in Japanese. Beat is still crazy good though.

Damn this has video has a lot of Japanese ass shaking.

Ill post an mp3 as soon as I can find one….

Jim Jones – Scarz + Bangladesh – Adidas

Bangladesh – Adidas

From the producer who brought you “A Milli” comes the track Adidas off Bangladesh’s upcoming mixtape Passport Music. Beat is quite simple but hey why not…

+++

Jim Jones – Scarz

Jimmy drops a pretty dope track – considering he is such a lame lyrcist and has such weak flow this is one of the better tracks I’ve ever heard from him. But its quite possible that I’m just obessed with the beat, and the dope random ass sample. Not sure who produced it….but enjoy. Could be off his new album Pray IV Reign which drops early 2009.

GLC X RTC: Similar To The Letters Mixtape

GLC X RTC: Similar To The Letters (click to download)

I’m way late on posting this but better now than ever. GLC is a monster of an MC out of Chicago and is signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. This mixtape has been getting a lot of postive press…and it’s well deserved. So for sure check it out – you can even listen below before downloading. One of Chicago’s finest right here – I hope GLCs album turns out to be a hit. I also love the choice of beats for this mixtape.

Props to my homie Malcolm for giving me the heads up about this.

Yung Berg Video + DJ Drama Feat. Snoop Dogg, T.I. & Akon – Day Dreaming

DJ Drama Feat. Snoop Dogg, T.I. & Akon – Day Dreaming (Dirty)

I think an early version of thi was released but this one sounds much more crisp. Produced by Drumma boy this supposed Gangsta Grillz 2 single from DJ Drama features hook man Akon, T.I. and Snoop Dog.

I’m totally not a Yung Berg fan (other than his Sexy Can I verse) but the video for his track “Outerspace” is kinda tight – plus the song is quite catchy.

Every Kanye West Sample

I donno about every but its got a ton – this is a pretty nice video which features many samples Kanye West has used followed by the Kanye West track themselves. This is very well put togethers so definitely check it out. Even has some 808 & Heartbreak tracks.

I wish I could get a list of the samples though – I’ll see if I can get one.

Props to KNELS.

Jay Rock – All My Life f. Lil Wayne (prod. Cool & Dre)

Jay Rock – All My Life f. Lil Wayne (prod. Cool & Dre)

Jay Rock must be somethin special if he got Wayne to drop two verses on this amazing beat produced by Miami’s Cool & Dre. This track is a month or two old but I definitely just looked over it as another track with Wayne featured on it – I heard it again over the weekend and decided I was gonna give the track some blog love. So enjoy the track and the video. Damn good stuff right here.

+++

R. Kelly – Shes Know It ft. Taio Cruz

Yeah R. Kelly is a pervert but if you get past that I think this dude is one of the better hookmen of the last 10 years. This track is silky smooth – R. Kelly kills it. So damn catchy. Who ever  Taio Cruz he sounds good too.

Ignition Remix is my jam for life.

Johnson&Jonson – La La Land f. Be Young + Game Interview

Johnson&Jonson – La La Land f. Be Young

Johnson&Jonson is a hip hop duo of MC Blu of (Blu Scholars anyone?) and producer Mainframe – they have self titled album out right now that you should check out if you enjoy the track above. The sample is catchy as hell and Blu delivers as usual. Good stuff for a Monday.

+++

Game does his thing and does an interview on MTV2s The Parker Report. I really wish Game would just get over and make some more damn music. All this retire talk is garbage.

Clipse Video Blog 3 + Cham talks Mixtape Messiah 6

Chamillionaire drops a 10 minute samples/trailer for his upcoming Mixtape Messiah 6. It drops January 16th and it’s sure to hold you over until his abum Venom drops in ‘09.

Royce Da 5′9″ – Shake This MP3 + Video + Busta Rhymes Arab Money Remixes

Royce Da 5′9″ – Shake This

Royce drops a very very well written track over a godly produced beat by DJ Premier – it may sound familiar to Lil Wayne fans as its the same track used in Dr. Carter. Swizz Beatz did the “Dr. Carter” version but I think DJ Premier takes the cake with this one – he totally did his thing to these samples. I also posted the video for track – directed by Rik Cordero. Amazing video for an amazing song. This is the first single off Royce’s new album Street Hop which drops in 09. Samples of the track is below. You will recognize “Holy Thursday” more than “The Smile.”

Major major props to 2dopeboyz for putting together a nice little article about it. Check it out.

+++

Why a track needs 3 remixes I have no idea – little bit of an overdose with this beat but just look at all these MCs – hard to ignore this. Dropped a little behind the scene video footage for the music video as well. Damn Weezy is a little guy next to Busta.
