Kanye West Interview + T-Pain Video Shoot + Gorilla Zoe – Lost (Video)
A nice 10 minute interview with Kanye – as always he has a few interesting things to say. That jacket is crazy.
+++
A little behind the scene footage for the video shoot of “Freeze” a track off T-Pains new album Thr33 Ringz – the track features Chris Brown.
+++
Video for Gorilla Zoe’s first single “Lost” off the album Feed Da Animals which drops March 17th – ‘09. Not exactly my favorite Gorilla Zoe track but I still have hopes for the rest of album being much better. I could of sworn this featured Lil Wayne…hmm..
Dream, A Little Dream Mixtape

Four Color Zack a DJ from Seattle put together this nice mixtape/mix of The Dreams best songs over the last few years. I think this dude is for sure one of the best song writers of this decade in pop music. Just check out all the songs he wrote…
Pretty cool mixtape – essentially a greatest hits….so far…
Exile A Milli Remix + Ruste Juxx – Get Up Live
For sure one of the more underated rappers this year – this is a clip of Ruste Juxx performing his single “Get Up” live – I love the beat on this track so damn much.
+++
Prodcuer Exile – who I posted a few tracks from a couple days ago – just put up this video of him doing a little live remix of A Milli – seriously is crazy how he does this. For sure check this out.

Asher Roth – The Reading

Asher Roth – The Reading (Rmx) (Prod J. Brookinz)
Sampling the Reading Rainbow theme song? Genius. Shout out to Levar Burton. East coast MC Asher Roth who often raps about the college life – continues so by dropping some nice verses over this infectious Reading Rainbow sample.
I sorta hated Asher at first but the more I hear the more I like. I’m sorta waiting for the masses to discover him. Dude could be huge if he got a decent hit and solid album. He is currently in the studio recording his first album.
Check out his Myspace for some more music + a free mixtape!
Specifically check out the song “I Love College.” Promise you will like it.
Young Jeezy – Who Dat Video + ?uestlove Interview
A 10 minute interview with ?uestlove of The Roots – he talks about The Roots new gig as the house band on Jimmy Fallons new late night show, tour bus crash, music etc…
Justin Timberlake – If I f. T.I. (prod. Timbaland) + MSTRKRFT ft. N.O.R.E. – Bounce Video

Justin Timberlake – If I f. T.I. (prod. Timbaland)
It’s not like this is gonna surpass the epicness of My Love, but for round 3 (they had a joint on T.I.’s Paper Trail called Dead & Gone) of the JT – T.I. combo we get the Timbaland produced track “If I.” I’m sorta diggin this.
Since when does T.I. sing?

Official video for MSTRKRFT’s track “Bounce” which features rapper N.O.R.E.
This beat is the shit. If you don’t like this track you don’t like to party.
Clipse Video Blog + The Game is bored.
Round 2 of Clipse new video blog they are doin in anticipation of their new album Till The Casket Drops. Basically Pusha T and Swizz Beats smokin a blunt in some NYC studio with some Swizz beat on repeat.
The Game must be bored. Here he talks about how LA girls are high matience, his burrito he just ate, his car, beef in hip hop etc….Yo Game how bout you go work on a new album instead?

KNONAM Feat. Jake One – "Knock You Down"
Minnesota hip hop right here – don’t ignore this dude. Knonam grew up on the North Side of Minneapolis and his album Length of The Blade is in stores now. Support local hip hop. This track is off his album and is produced/features Jake-One. His track Minnesota is a nice home town anthem as well.

N*E*R*D Sooner or Later Video
N*E*R*D drop the video for Sooner or Later off their latest album Seeing Sounds. I forgot how much I liked this album – I think its in my top 10 of 08.

Kanye West – Paranoid (rmx) f. Big Sean & Mr. Hudson
Big Sean is an MC who is signed to Kanye’s label G.O.O.D. Music. He hops on his mentors supposed next singe and gives it a bit of a remix.
Minnesota Hip Hop: Heiruspecs w/ Dessa & I Self Divine

Two dope as hell tracks drop off St. Paul, Minnesota homies Heiruspecs. I’m a huge Minnesota hip hop fan, obviously, but I gotta admit I have slept on these dudes. My favorite lady in hip hop – Dessa of Doomtree drops in for an excellent guest verse. Minneapolis hip hop legend I Self Divine hops on the other track. Both are solid and both are off Heiruspecs new self titled album that drops…well today! So go pick it up.

Kardinal Offishall – Set It Off (rmx) f. Dr. Dre & Pusha T + Exile

Kardinal Offishall – Set It Off (rmx) f. Dr. Dre & Pusha T
Good god. Yes your reading that correctly Dr. Dre has started his (epic?) comeback on a track by the guy who sings “Dangerous”…and yes he also got Pusha T from The Clipse. I guess it took me to complain about a slow day to have a bomb like this drop. I have no idea how Kardinal pulled this one off – but props to him.
How you think Dre did?

Exile – Stay Tuned (Stay Here) f. Muhsinah
Producer Exile drops another track off his upcoming album Radio. The idea behind the album is that all Exile’s beats are made up of sounds he compiled from recording the radio. Dopest idea I’ve heard in a minute….can’t wait to see what else comes from this project. Thats some crazy artwork too.
Lily Allen – Womanizer (Britney Spears Cover)

Lily Allen – Womanizer (Britney Spears Cover)
UK pop singer Lily Allen dice a nice acoustic remix of Britney Spears’ Womanizer.
Not exactly hip hop but suck it – its catchy as hell.
BTW if you haven’t ever heard Lily Allen’s album Alright, Still you should for sure check it out.
Lazerbreak Hand Over Fist Instrumentals

Mike Mictlan and Lazerbreak of Doomtree have released the instrumentals for their recently released album Hand Over Fist. If you haven’t checked this album out yet you definitely should. Especially considering they will be on tour with P.O.S. in February.
Only available on iTunes.
I gotta find me a copy of this.
50 Performs Get Up on Video Game Awards + LL Cool J
I normally don’t post 50 – but this live band stuff is sick. Check out LL Cool J who also performed at the VGAs. Momma Said Knock You Out is one of my favorite beats.
“Iraq and US are now on solid footing.”
An Iraqi reporter throws his shoes at Bush at a press conference in Iraq.
damn George has some made reflexes.

Kanye Performs on SNL
Kanye West performed Love Lockdown and Heartless on SNL last night. Quite the performance if you ask me. He did a pretty good job, but I’ve heard both these songs so many damn times. When I started hearing various tracks from 808 leak I wasn’t sure how Kanye was gonna perform these live…he isnt a singer. I had my doubts but he is definitely pulling it off – I like how he is making it more of a rap performance. First couple times he performed these live it pretty much sucked. I’ve read a couple times that Kanye openly regrets making the notes so high for him to sing…..making some the songs hard to perform. All things aside these are some of the better performances I’ve seen Kanye do with songs from 808s & Heartbreak.
This was so much sweeter when I watched in HD on a 50 inch.
Slug Urb Magazine Cover: Slug’s First Cover/Phone Masturbation

Sean Daley, aka Atmosphere’s MC, aka Slug, has made a career of exposing himself. Not in a trenchcoat in front of the grammar school kinda way, but on the mic. Fittingly enough for URB’s issue full of firsts, Slug might’ve been the first rapper to make an album about a girl. And even more vulnerably, the heartbreak she caused. Those were the Lucy Ford EPs, and while Lucy may or may not be the source of the sore in the story that follows, one thing is for sure, it could only be Sean.
My First URB Cover/Phone Masturbation for a Stranger by Slug
I was in NY for press, and on the tail end of a tour. I had just recently received news that my woman friend was leaving me and moving out of my apartment because she met someone better. I tried to drink the anger away the night before the photo shoot. I don’t remember what or how much I drank, but I do remember waking up in a hotel room, and looking up at hotel security as they shook my foot to wake me up. I was confused. All he said was, “Your boss called us and begged us to wake you up.”
My boss? I don’t have a boss. Turns out it was Kathryn [Frazier of Biz 3], my publicist, who asked them to enter my room and get me up. I looked at my cell and realized I’d missed about 37 calls from her. Also, I realized I was still quite drunk, but not yet hungover. And I was about two hours late for a cover shoot for URB.
I got up. Decided to keep the party going (stall the impending hangover), and I opened a bottle of wine. Drank half of it in the shower. Got in a cab, and headed to some building in Manhattan.
Aesop Rock was already there. The stylist showed my some clothes that I declined, but she offered me a beer and I accepted. As the photographer started setting up, I asked Aesop Rock if he wanted to go get stoned. I think he declined, but he did decide to accompany me. We ended up in some cafeteria in the building. For some reason, I decided it was OK for me to roll a joint right there at a table. Then I decided it was OK for me to light it up right there. I remember Aesop kinda being surprised at my behavior. But I was loaded, and on some Wu-Tang shit. I didn’t care.
Out of nowhere, a tiny little man came up and started yelling at me. I think this was all post-smoking-ban in NYC. I put it out and we went back upstairs to get our pictures taken.
If you look at the photos from that issue, you can clearly see that I am on a different planet. I look like a mix between Robert Downey, Jr (circa crack) and Kermit the Frog.
Unrelated, but the first and only time I ever masturbated over the phone for a stranger was a month later during an interview with a journalist who happened to be at that photo shoot I just told you about. She interviewed me for some magazine that I’ve never heard of. She sent me a copy of the audiotape later, it is pretty hilarious. In a bad way. Maybe explains why I never did that again on the phone with a stranger. My money-shot didn’t make the piece she was writing, but she did threaten to put it into a book she was working on. I’m still waiting for the book.
-Slug
Slug at his finest. But anyone remember this?

P.O.S. – Goodbye

P.O.S. – Goodbye (right click + save as)
I’ve been waiting and waiting for something off P.O.S’ new album Never Better to release. Finally something does and it was worth the wait. P.O.S definitely kills it – (he sorta gets his Brother Ali flow on) – the beat is pretty dope too – a little more soulful than his normally heavy punk influenced beats. P.O.S is a Minnesota native – is part of the hip hop collective Doomtree.
I’ll be bumping this all day no doubt about it.
