Kanye West – Welcome To Heartbreak ft. Kid Cudi (Official Video…sort of)

This is not the next single, “Amazing” is the next single.

This is the video we’ve been working on for the last month.

We know there is another video out there using the same technique so we were forced to drop it now.

-Kanye West

Self explanatory. Pretty cool video I think – pretty crazy effect. For sure worth a watch for you Kanye fans – and maybe film fans. I’m more excited about “Amazing” being the next single and that getting a video though. JEEEEEZY.

Young Jeezy – That Ain’t It + T.I. – Dead & Gone (Video)

Young Jeezy – That Ain’t It

Young Jeezy hops on one of my favorite beats from T.I.’s Paper Trail. It’s Jeezy – of course he kills it.

He’s got a mixtape called Thug Mansion: Welcome To The Black House dropping within the next few weeks.

+++

Speaking of T.I. and Paper Trials Trails – here is the video for his single “Dead & Gone” featuring Justin Timberlake. It’s ridiculous how much work T.I. is doing before he hits the jail cell in a little over a month. I guess he takes the name Grand Hustle pretty seriously. Video is aight – kinda low quality right now but it’s not like the video has many interesting visuals anyway…..

RP TO THE RESCUE: DJ Deckstream ft. Mos Def – Life Is Good

My dude RP just hooked me up with some info about DJ Deckstream. I had just posted a track he did with Mos Def the other day and RP backed me up with some good history behind the guy. In fact he posted it over at his blog with another dope track and a Lupe video – so check it out.

Ya learn something new everyday!

Here is what I originally posted – his response is below.

Pwelbs:

DJ Deckstream ft. Mos Def – Life Is Good

Mighty Mos Def drops in on a new track from Dj Decstream (ya I donno) for his new project Deckstream Sound Tracks 2.

RP:

DJ Deckstream? One of the primo DJs/producers in Japan. His Deckstream Soundtracks 2 dropped February 11th here in Japan, but I have yet to pick it up. If it’s anything like the first one, it would definitely be a worthwhile purchase and an even better listen. Lots of great MCs were featuring in the first one, including Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco and Verbal. DJ Premier even gives a shout-out in the intro!

Lupe Fiasco – Can You Let Me Know (feat. Verbal & Sarah Green)

This track can be found on Deckstream Soundtracks and Lupe’s The Cool. Produced by Deckstream and featuring one of the Teriyaki Boyz MCs, Verbal. Check the post I wrote earlier for some more about TB.

——————

Teriyaki Boyz – Zock On! (DJ Deckstream Remix) feat. Pharrell & Busta Rhymes

The latest TB single, Work That came with a nice b-side remix. Deckstream manages to make the original electro-heavy track into a jumpy party track with punchy horns and string fills. TB’s latest album just dropped, too. I gotta get my paws on these new albums…

Asher Roth – Silly Boy + DJ Yoda – Colorful Clothes f. Lil Wayne, Birdman, Maino, Kardinal Offishall, Wes Fif, Trae, Hunt & Joe Young

Asher Roth – Silly Boy (prod. Don Cannon)

With the release of Asher’s new album Asleep In The Bread Aisle approaching – well actually it’s out April 21st but still. Asher drops a nice little track with production from Don Cannon. Apparetnly this is a track that didn’t make the album – still worth a listen though. Hook is a tad whack though I think.

DJ Yoda – Colorful Clothes f. Lil Wayne, Birdman, Maino, Kardinal Offishall, Wes Fif, Trae, Hunt & Joe Young

Pretty self explanatory – huge track right here. Epic sounding beat with quite the line-up. Enjoyable just because of the variety of MCs – I have no idea who some of these cats are but the track is still nice.

GLC – Take It Off (Video)

After some words of praise from Bun B. Chicago MC and G.O.O.D Music signee GLC dropped the video for his track “Take It Off” last week – but I was slackin hardcore on this track called “Take It Off.” The video is nothing amazing but this hard rock hip hop track is pretty dope perfect for, as far as voices go, the Slim Thug of the Midwest. GLC’s got an album on the way. I also posted his positively reviewed mixtape a few months back – so check it.

B.O.B. – Don’t Break My Heart + DJ Deckstream ft. Mos Def – Life Is Good

B.O.B. – Don’t Break My Heart

ATLien MC B.O.B. drops another from his upcoming album The Great Adventures Of B.O.B. which is set to drop sometimes this year via T.I.’s label Grand Hustle. The song is pretty catchy and the production is kinda crazy. Unfortunatley for B.O.B. The Foudations beat him to it on writing that hook….just kidding. I’ve seen this sample used quite a few times but hey hip hop is all about sampling so I can safetly say I dig this track.

I think I like Rhymfest’s use of this sample/hook a bit more.

Just for kicks: The Foundations – Build Me Up Buttercup

DJ Deckstream ft. Mos Def – Life Is Good

Mighty Mos Def drops in on a new track from Dj Decstream (ya I donno) for his new project Deckstream Sound Tracks 2. I just love that Mos is finally getting on some tracks again. His new album The Ecstatic isn’t due till late this year – but any new material is MOSt DEFinitely worth checking out. This beat is pretty smooth too – nice piano stuff.

Kobe or Jay-Z?

Who would you rather be?

Jay-Z.

By the way – Lebron > Kobe.

St. Paul Slim Interview + Freestyle on B96 (Tony Parker)

St. Paul Slim is a fresh MC outta St. Paul, Minnesota who has been making some noise in the scene for quite some time. He preformed last year at Rhymesayers hip hop festival Soundset ‘08 and got a lot of postive reviews. I definitely agree, this guy has got it. So check out a dope interview with Mr. Peter Parker over at B96. They talk Soundset 08 and then St. Paul Slim destroys an instrumental with some pretty solid verses. Some ridiculous Minnesota lines right here. Worth the watch.

“hotness we drop like 35W”

Look for some more St. Paul Slim on an upcoming Loud.com EP that drops soon. I’ll be posting it for sure.

Props to Mr. Peter Parker for holding it down for the Twin Cities.

PS: Yo, Minnesota kids check out all the shows he’s got in Minnesota the next few months – St. Paul Slim Concert Dates. Also a show with Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Muja Messiah, M.anifest, Toki Wright and BK-One.

Drake – So Far Gone (Mixtape)

Drake – So Far Gone (Mixtape)

This mixtape is getting a lot of hype. Drake is an MC out of Toronto, Canada. I think it sounds pretty good. I guess I thought of him more of a MC but he sings a lot of stuff too. Didn’t really know that but it sounds pretty good. Drake picks up some guest verses and hooks from Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Bun B, Lloyd and Santogold. Drake was recently signed to Interscope Records.

I’m only halfway through but it sounds good so far. All the songs are pretty different which is cool. But I suggest you listen to this – definitely a different sound.

Incase your interested here are his two older mixtapes.

Room For Improvement (2006) | Comeback Season (2007)

Huge props to 2Dopeboyz for Drake’s other mixtapes.

Charles Hamilton – Well Isn’t This Awkward (Mixtape)

Charles Hamilton – Well Isn’t This Awkward

I really don’t feel like writing anything, but I guess there isn’t much to say. This is Charles Hamilton’s Valentines Day themed mixtape – it was supposed to drop tomorrow but instead it was liberated tonight. I dropped a track called “Scorpion” a few days backed and it was pretty dope – I have yet to check out the rest of this.

That’s gotta be one of the stranger mixtape covers I’ve seen.

Ink: The Mixtape (Free Download)

Ink: The Mixtape (Free Download)

Alright yall want a good remix album? I got one for ya right here – Ink who is repping Chicago, mixed a bunch of dope classic a capellas with some of his own production work. Some pretty dope beats/remixes on this so I suggest you all check it out. Amazing some of the stuff he came up with – I’ll be listening to one beat and the next one is totally different – gotta love that in a producer.

BTW the “Tipsy” remix is raw as hell – so legit.

Soulja Boy – Turn My Swag On (RMX) ft. Lil Wayne + Saigon – The Rules (prod. Statik Selektah)

Soulja Boy – Turn My Swag On (rmx) f. Lil Wayne

First Jeezy hops on this beat now Wayne graces the Soulja Boy single “Turn My Swag On.” Word on the street is that a final official remix will also have some verses from T.I. and Kanye to the West.

Now I wanna hear that version, but until then.

Classic wayne verse right here though, real talk. I like it when Wayne is doin this instead of that rock music shit.

+++

Saigon – The Rules (prod. Statik Selektah)

I didn’t post the video but Saigon, who claims to have had various albums done over the last fews years, a couple days ago he put up a video with DJ Statik Selektah stating they made and album in 24 hours and that it would be released soon. No one really took it seriously including myself – but here we are now and the first single is out and it’s called “The Rules.”

Good to see Sai finally getting some real material released. Get that Just Blaze album out though!

Couldn’t resist on the picture. HA.

Estelle – Superstition (Stevie Wonder Cover) + Kanye Interview

UK pop singer Estelle just a couple nights ago picked up a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her song “American Boy” which featuers Kanye West. Now she has graced us with a very nice rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and another track called “Star” produced by Kardinal Offishall.

Very slow day – so check out this interview with Kanye. Why? Because generally I think he has interesting things to say.

Brother Ali Previews his track "Good Lord" + Interview

So just a little background info on this – over at the University of Minnesota (shouts to my homies) they have a good gig goin called the Whole Music Club which they have artists in for interviews and performacnes (check out there YouTube Page – interviews with Slug, P.O.S and more.) Brother Ali dropped in back in October of 08 but the footage seems to have just surfaced within the last day or two.

Well the first vid above his Brother Ali performing his new single “Good Lord” which I recentley just posted some promo videos for a couple days ago. He is working on the music video now – I’m assuming a good quality version of the track will release within the next few weeks. He also has a EP dropping but I got a blog post coming about that.

But real talk, make sure you check out the rest of this interview. Real good Rhymesayers history lesson for you Rhymesayers-heads like me. I love this kinda stuff. Brother Ali talks about how he got hooked up with Rhymesayers, his realtionship with producer Ant, touring, the early part of his career and more recently the tour he did with the legendary Rakim. I saw this tour by the way and damn did Brother Ali kill it – even met Ali too!

So check these out fool – all worth the watch no doubt.

C-Rayz Walz: "In Your Soul ft. Slug, Samuel, & Sum in 16"

C-Rayz Walz: “In Your Soul ft. Slug, Samuel, & Sum in 16”

I don’t really know who C-Rayz Walz is and you probably don’t either. So let’s meet him together. I’m just hearing this track for the first time as I’m writing this but I definitely like what I hear so far. I guess I’ve been sleepin on this cause it sounds good.

To be honest I only took notice of this cause of the Slug guest verse. Slug-o kills it as usual, so how can ya turn this track down?

Well I’m gonna check out the rest of this dude’s album Who The F%@K Are You? , which is out now, and see what’s up. But I think you’ll dig this track so take a listen.

big ups to MB and 2Dopeboyz

Muja Messiah – Swing First ft. Graph Nobel

Muja Messiah: “Swing First ft. Graph Nobel”

Yes – Minnesota rareties is wheres its at. This Muja Messiah track has sorta just been unearthed. Well actually it was released on the soundtrack of a Playstation 2 game called The Con. Damn who hooked him up with that?

Anyway its a few years old but still solid stuff – beat is legit. Graph Nobel drops a guest verse – he is a member of a group associated with Talib Kweli called Idle Warship.

Big ups to Midwest Broadcast

Lil Wayne on Around The Horn

Damn Weezy holds it down on ESPN’s Around The Horn.

Wood Paige haha

Ludacris – Nasty Girls (feat. Plies) (Video) + The-Dream – Rockin That Thang

Gotta post a Luda video – sorry it’s been a long one but I’ll try and update a bunch tonight. Nasty Girl featuring Plies is the latest single of Luda’s Theater of The Mind.

+++

I’d much rather have rappers spit over these beats – but I still think The Dream makes some crazy stuff. Video for  The-Dream’s first single Rockin That Thang off his new album Love vs. Money which drops March 10th.

Slim Thug – Show Me Love (Produced by Mannie Fresh)

Slim Thug – Show Me Love (Produced by Mannie Fresh)

Ah yes – a Mannie Fresh beat. Just look at the gems this guy has produced here and here. Back That Azz up? One of the best beats ever I’m tellin ya. Well he has been quiet as of late but I have seen him produce a few tracks here and there as of late and damn have they been fresh – no pun intended.

Anyway – Slim Thug, who I hype all the time, drops another single from his new album Boss of All Bosses which drops March 24th. This one bumps no doubt about it, Slim Thuga at his finest with a dope hook from Mannie - as it should be.

Dilla Tribute + Atmosphere – You (Video/Alternative Version)

It seems Atmosphere and Rhymesayers has released another music video for the track “You” off their latest album When Life Hands You Lemons….I gotta say I loved the Tech Deck version of the video more.

Gorilla Zoe f. Rick Ross – What It Is + Charles Hamilton – Scorpion

Gorilla Zoe f. Rick Ross & Kollossus – What It Is (Right Click + Save As)

Gorilla Zoe released one of my favorite singles this decade with “Hood Nigga” – I think it’s safe to say I have been pretty dissapointed with the few singles he has released since then – though “Bottle Poppin” and “Lost” weren’t half bad they were nothing comparable.  “What It Is” is no “Hood Nigga” but it’s a step in the right direction. I gotta say the beat is kinda catchy and with a nice verse from Officer Rick Ross I feel like this is a track that will indeed grow on ya.

This might be one of those tracks I’ll enjoy much more when it pops up on shuffle on my iPod when I’m rollin around with the windows down this summer….

Don’t Feed Da Animals drops March 17th.

+++

Charles Hamilton – Scorpion

Charles has been quiet the last week or two. But I guess he is back this week with a nice little single called “Scorpion” which is to be featured on his Valentines Day themed mixtape called …Well Isn’t This Awkward which drops this Friday. I guess this should hold you over until then. I dig it.

Grammy Performance Recap: Swagger Like Us Live

If you missed it – nows your chance to see “Swagger Like Us” live from the 2009 Grammys. Jay, Kanye, T.I. and Wayne drop their respective verses as a very pregnant M.I.A. sings the hook live.

What can I say – this is one hell of a performance. You probably won’t see these 4 on stage together that often – or ever again.

Click below to see some other notable performances:

Asher Rother – I Love College (Video)

…so how many days until this weekend?

Well I’m off to class…ugh.

DO SOMETHING CRAZY DO SOMETHING CRAZY

Asleep In The Bread Aisle drops April 21st, aight.

Young Jeezy – Turn My Swag On Freestyle + T-Pain – Snap Your Fingaz ft. Lil Wayne

Young Jeezy – Turn My Swag On Freestyle

Jeezy is always at the top of his game – here he hops on Soulja Boy’s single “Turn My Swag On” which is off his new album iSouljaBoyTellem. It’s amazing how much this song fits for Jeezy. Instead Soulja boy got it. Dope freestyle for sure.

+++

T-Pain – Snap Your Fingaz ft. Lil Wayne

Well T-Wayne is at it again – this time making a ballad as T-Pain warbles an autotuned verse and hook while Wayne whispers a small verse about hitting on girls. The duo’s debut album He Raps, He Sings is coming sometime in 09.
