Clipse – Kinda Like A Big Deal (Remix) f. Kanye West & Bun B + Lil Wayne – Fix My Hat

Clipse – Kinda Like A Big Deal (Remix) ft. Kanye West & Bun B
Bun B adds his two cents about Swine Flu to already one of the biggest tracks this year. Like I said – everything Bun B does is cool.
When can we get another Clipse leak? Till The Casket Drops is set for a late summer release.

Werdplay – My Big Wheel (Video)
I’m with Mike over at Midwest Broadcast – I have no idea who Minneapolis emcee Werdplay is, but it sounds like I damn well should. But judging from this track I think he has a pretty good future. With production from producer Chuck Inglish of Chicago’s The Cool Kids – Werdplay spits over a bass heavy track which is being debuted to the masses through this pretty clever little video. This is definitely a different sound to come outta Minneapolis – which is a nice breath of fresh air. He has a bunch of other dope videos and tracks over at his MySpace so check out the scene.
Anyone got an Mp3?
St. Paul Slim – Is This Mic On?

St. Paul Slim – Is This Mic On?
I’ve been meaning to post this since Monday. The homie St. Paul Slim just let off a track from his upcoming mixtape with Prof – titled Recession Music. I’m pretty pumped about this project – sounds legit so far.
Update: This will also be featured on the upcoming Midwest Broadcast Mixtape – check out the info here.
Spotted at Sound Verite.

Midwest Broadcast’s Fly Over Land Mixtape: Knonam – Crazy Minnesota Girl ft. Erin McCormick

Knonam – Crazy Minnesota Girl ft. Erin McCormick
Good morning folks – I’m very excited for you to be waking up to a leak from one of the most exciting projects coming out of the midwest (and Minnesota) right now. Mike over at Midwest Broadcast has compiled the best of the best out of the midwest for a new (free) mixtape called Fly Over Land, which will showcases artists such as Muja Messiah, Heiruspecs and Add-2 out of Chicago just to name a few. With some nice cover art, he just leaked the first single which features Minneapolis rapper Knonam. Over the now infamous “Say Yeah” beat – Knonam brings everyone right into summer with this confident banger. I’m telling you people – everyone should be looking at the Midwest right now.
Look for the entire mixtape to drop sometime in May.
Because it is put so well – I’ll leave you with a message from Mike himself.
It’s finally time to leak the first track from Midwest Broadcast’s debut mixtape, which will be titled Fly Over Land. After receiving a handful of track submissions in the past three days alone, it was a tough decision picking which song to use for the first promo single. However, Knonam’s bouncy, techno-sampling “Crazy Minnesota Girl” seemed like the right choice. It represents for my home state, was one of the songs I’ve been sitting on for the longest, and has recently been posted up on Knonam’s Myspace for everyone to see. So without further adieu, hit the download link below to listen to the song, and keep checking back for a few more leaks. Fly Over Land, putting the spotlight on a plethora of the Midwest’s dopest artists, will be available for free download on Midwest Broadcast sooner than you know.
Franz Diego Mixtape Promo Video + Listen to M.P.L.S.
The homie Franz Diego just put out this promo vid for his new mixtape dropping May 2nd – which I promise will be posted up here at Pwelbs.com. Franz fills you in with all his projects and what the new mixtape is all about and it’s guest features.
Also if your not aware Franz is also part of a project called Listen To M.P.L.S. which is a podcast of sorts in which the gang talks all sorts of subjects but it mainly focuses on hip hop and the local scene in the Twin Cities. The first epsidoe of the second season was just leaked over at the official blog for the project. The first episode features Mike Mictlan of the Doomtree crew. Make sure you take a listen at the link below – very cool stuff.
Mike Mictlan came thru fresh off the POS tour and SXSW to talk about renting movies his experiences on the road and…
Kayne West & Malik Yusef – Magic Man ft. Common & John Legend + Mos Def – Say You Will (Kanye West Cover Live)

Kayne West & Malik Yusef – Magic Man ft. Common & John Legend
101 Distribution is releasing the first authorized independent release from Kanye West & G.O.O.D. Music label. The 30 song double disc is called G.O.O.D. Morning, G.O.O.D. Night and is loaded with features from KRS-1, Twista, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Bun B and of course most every G.O.O.D. Music artist.
Sounds like a very interesting project – and this track is a very good start.

Mos Def – Say You Will (Kanye West Cover Live)
Amazing cover of Kanye’s “Say You Will” from the mighty Mos Def. This is crazy stuff and this recording from a recent NY gig sounds crystal clear.

Kanye West – Amazin’ ft. Young Jeezy (Video)
Perhaps my favorite track (well at least the Jeezy verse) of Kanye’s 808 & Heartbreaks finally gets a video. Pretty dope vid – looks real nice. Also a nice little (yet typical) interview with Yeezy and GLC after the vid – so make sure you watch it all.
Directed by Hype Williams.
The Outfit (Kanye West x GLC x Timmy G x Arrow Starr) – 187th + KRS-One & Buckshot – Robot (prod. Havoc)

(Above picture from left to right: Konman Produt Kanye West, Rhymefest, Mikkey, GLC & Timmy G. Dated 1999)
The Outfit (Kanye West x GLC x Timmy G x Arrow Starr) – 187th (Unreleased)
I just wanna say thank you to Ms. Donda West for saving our lives! She allowed me, Timmy G, Really Doe & Arrow Starr to get out the hood & come to her house to get out our dreams @ an early age when even our own family members thought we were crazy for wanted to make music! Without her ain’t no tellin’ how we would of ended up! God blessed us with her presents and in return we gave the world a peace of our world! This is an early recording from the group then known as “The Outfit” from 1996. It was produced by a young Kanye West & featured a young GLC, Timmy & Arrow Starr. Kanye lends his vocals on the hook.
Well this is a nice piece of Chicago history. Enjoy!

KRS-One & Buckshot – Robot (prod. Havoc)
Two straight up legends come together for one hell of a track. Of an album the duo is putting out called Survival Skills which will be dropping August 25th. The entire album will be produced by Havor. Sounds G.
Eminem – 3AM

The second single from Eminem’s new album Relapse which drops May 19th. This is a million times better than “We Made You” but I still am not feelin’ the weird ass flow. At least this one is listenable though. Obviously the beat is pretty nice.
nabbed the link from Mike but the track premiered at RapRadar.
Trama & DJ Snuggles Freestyle Session with Mr. Peter Parker of B9
Now I can’t tell you what every Top 40 hip hop station is like but here in Chicago it’s unbelievably pathetic for a city with such a strong hip hop community. I find it kinda funny as soon as I move away (college) from Minneapolis, B96 (which I bumped casually when in high school) has definitely moved above the rest when it comes to Top 40 hip hop radio. Gotta give it up to Mr. Peter Parker for getting solid acts like Trama and DJ Snuggles in the studio, this is real hip hop right here.
Trama, one of my favorite up and coming MCs outta the Twin Cities (though he was born in Queens) has put together quite the routine with Minnesota native DJ Snuggles. Now if you watch this you will soon realize the talent of a dude like Snuggles as he delivers one of the more refreshing beatbox sessions I’ve heard in a minute. I don’t get why more people don’t do this kinda stuff – beat boxing seems to be a lost art in hip hop culture. I can’t even remember the last time a beatboxing was relevant – besides Rahzel in that Twix commercial.
So make your watch this as Trama and DJ Snuggles make Minnesota proud with a true hip hop routine which I’m sure will have you smiling.
You think Snuggles has anything on this kid though? DAMMMMN.
In case you missed it, make your you check out Trama’s latest mixtape which can be found right here.
Lil Wayne – Facelift ft. Kevin Rudolf + Charles Hamilton – Barbara Walters

Lil Wayne – Facelift ft. Kevin Rudolf
**updated again on 4/23**
This is the first good ass Wayne verse I’ve heard in a minute. A supposed leak off Wayne’s “rock” album The Rebirth – this one features Kevin Rudolf who turns out to actually be the worst performer I’ve ever seen. Anyone catch that Miss America performance? Wow he sucks.
But for real I got no problem with Wayne over these rock songs if he can at least sound half way decent on it like this track – I don’t mind if he sings just not the whole damn time. I’m talking “Lollipop” is the “ideal” amount of singing.
+++

Charles Hamilton – Barbara Walters
The first leak off Charles Hamiltons debut album The Perfect Life which drops June 23rd. I hope this isn’t a sign of whats to come – this track is kinda boring. This is what happens when you release 10,000 mixtapes – people get bored of your shit.
Elzhi- Deep (Produced by Black Milk) + Young Son – Git Live!

Elzhi- Deep (Produced by Black Milk)
Straight from Detroit rapper Elzhi (from Slum Village) hops on a new track with production from the ever infamous Black Milk. These two always impress when they get together so I’m not shocked this track has a mean bite. Off a upcoming project titled The Feed.
+++

I dropped a track from Twin Cities MC Young Son last week and turns out he just dropped another one called “Get Live!” I like this one much more.
Looks like he has an album dropping June 9th called Dreamer’s Poetry and will be dropping a track every Tuesday until then. So keep an eye out.

Lollapalooza Lineup 2009 (Chicago – August 7-9th)
(click for larger image)
Looks pretty decent I’d say – a few acts I’m interested in. But most importantly Atmosphere holdin down for hip hop this year – I guess other than Snoop and The Beastie Boys but they are both regulars at these types of events plus who really cares.
Hopefully I will somehow be attending.
Eminem – Relapse (Album Art)

Those are all pills from the looks of it. If you weren’t aware in late 2005 Em went to rehab for addiction to prescription sleeping pills – which he has since defeated I believe.
Prescribed by Dr. Dre.
Nice.
Prescription Refills Release Date – May 19th.
Bob Dylan – Beyond Here Lies Nothing + Passion Pit – The Reeling
The second video I feel needs some air time is the video above which is for a track called “The Reeling” from Massachusett’s electro-pop group Passion Pit. The group has beeing getting a lot of press latley in anticipation of their new album Manners dropping May 19th. Posted for the amazing video visiuals and damn do I love the first minite or so of this track. The vocals are pretty tolerable if you ahve that kind of ear but the instrumentals are what got me on this one.
If you like this make sure you check out their equally catchy track “Sleepyhead” which was off their previous album.
