Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y – Car Service + Jamie Foxx ft. Kanye West, The-Dream & Drake – Digital Girl (Remix) + Ryan Leslie ft. Pusha T – Something That I Like

Jamie Foxx ft. Kanye West, The-Dream & Drake – Digital Girl (Remix)
Drake hops on the Jame Foxx track “Digital Girl” which already had support from The Dream and Kanye West. I’m not a huge Jamie fan but this song is kinda hot. The remix premiered on Conan last week. You can watch it here.

Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y – Car Service
Another dope cut off the upcoming Wiz and Curren$y tape titled How Fly dropping in July. Keep an eye out.

Ryan Leslie ft. Pusha T – Something That I Like
Ryan Leslie recruits one half of The Clipse for this smooth track. Nothing like some fresh verses from Pusha T.
Wale & 9th Wonder – Back to the Feature (Mixtape)

Wale & 9th Wonder – Back to the Feature (Mixtape) + Sharebee + Zshare
After a few delays perhaps the most antipated mixtape of the year is finally released. Hailing from Washington, D.C rapper Wale comes together with Grammy award winning super producer 9th Wonder. The final product being the Back To The Feature mixtape which after a few listens I must say is enjoyable. Loaded with guest features from anyone who is relevant this mixtape will surely keep your ears occupied for the next few weeks. Just take a look at that tracklist! Excellent stuff – I jammed it all the way through.
Also I’m glad to see that Posner track made the tape. I also am loving the Duffy sampe on track (#13.) The Mark Ronson produced tracks are pretty dope as well – he needs to do more of this stuff.
props to WaleMusic and 2DopeBoyz for the links.

Wale – Wonder Why ft. Big Sean, Kenn Starr & Mike Posner (prod. 9th Wonder) + Toki Wright – A-Yo Freestyle

Wale – Wonder Why ft. Big Sean, Kenn Starr & Mike Posner (prod. 9th Wonder)
Wale recruits Big Sean and Mike Posner for this brand new track, produced by the legendary 9th Wonder, for Wale’s Back To The Feature mixtape which is supposed to drop later today. This is soooo dope to hear Posner sing a hook over a 9th Wonder beat – which is beyond fresh by the way. Nice verses from Big Sean and Wale as well. I’ll post the mixtape as soon as it drops.
You may recall this in-studio footage of Big Sean and Mike Posner recording this in the studio with 9th.
Update: I guess this track is for a ImFlasy x Karmaloop mixtape titled Students of The Culture.

The one and only Toki Wright drops a nice freestyle over the Pete Rock produced “A-Yo” off Redman and Method Man’s latest Blackout 2. Toki, man you been killin’ it latley!
Slaughterhouse – Woodstock ft. M.O.P. + Sean Price – RuckDown! + Guilty Simpson – Feel It

Slaughterhouse – Woodstock ft. M.O.P.
The Slaughterhouse gang lets off another track before their August 11th album release. Damn! They go in on this rough and tough beat with the help of fellow New Yorkers M.O.P.
For those less informed the super group consists of Royce Da 5’9, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I.

SEAAAAN P! With the launch of his new record label Ruck Down Records – Sean P drops some bars in honor of the event.

As usual a fresh new joint from Guilty Simpson outta Michigan.
Asher Roth – The Greenhouse Effect (One Year Anniversary)

Asher Roth – The Greenhouse Effect (One Year Anniversary)
Pretty hard to believe that Asher has been “that guy” in the hip-hop scene for over a year now. I’d say for a white up and coming mainstream rapper he did alright. Asher Roth has been around a little bit longer than PWELBS.COM! This perhaps is his best piece of work – and it came out one year ago.
Young Son – Counting Sheep (Mixtape)

Young Son – Counting Sheep (Mixtape)
Minneapolis rapper Young Son just released his mixtape Counting Sheep – Countdown To Dreamer’s Poetry. After about 10 weeks of dropping freestyles via DJBOOTH.NET (which I slacked on) the hip-hop dreamer Young Son leaves us with the final chapter before he releases his sophmore album Dreamer’s Poetry later this summer. I gotta give Young Son some major props – this dude hustles hard. After taking a listen through the mixtape this morning I must say he deserves your time. Some really fresh beats on here as well so big ups to the producers.
If you want to know more about Young Son or get a good look at his hip-hop vision I highly recommend you check out his interview with DJBooth.net, which you can listen to here or read here.

MTV2 Twin Cities Independent Music Week – Soundset 2009 Highlights + Interviews
Soundset 2009 Highlights
As I was walking around Soundset I saw quite a few camera crews – most notably one following P.O.S. like a shadow. Pretty cool that MTV2 is acknowledgeing the incredible hip-hop scene we have in the Twin Cites. MTV2 just put up 8 videos profiling the various artists. Interviews with Slug, Brother Ali, P.O.S as well as various performance footage. Just take a look at all the converage below. Pretty cool stuff!

Sounds like a pretty dope idea!
Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down ft. Matthew Santos

Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down ft. Matthew Santos
It’s funny cause I was just at Twins vs. Cubs came at Wrigley this past weekend and Chicago via Minneapolis singer Matthew Santos actually sang the National Anthem. Santos name may look familiar as he was on Lupe’s biggest hit “Superstar” off Lupe’s album The Cool a couple years ago. I started to think when an actual track off Lupe’s upcoming album We Are Lasers would leak. Sure enough I was reading some Twitter posts later than afternoon that a track was set to drop this week. Sure enough it did and here we have the very first leak off Lupe Fiasco’s highly anticapted third album.
I must say as usual – lovin me some new Lupe.
Thanks to Mike for the link.
Young Jeezy – 24-23 + 3 Lil Wayne Rebirth Tracks

Young Jeezy – 24-23 (Gucci Mane & OJ Da Juiceman Diss)
With Young Jeezy’s next album Thug Motivation 103 (hopefully) coming sooner than we think it’s nice to see some Jeezy tracks will be dropping more often. This time he disses fellow ATL rappers Gucci Mane and OJ.
I used to pay Kobe, but now I pay Lebron…

- Lil Wayne – Girls Forever (prod. J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)
- Lil Wayne – Ready For the World
- Lil Wayne – Ground Zero ft. Tyga
Three new Lil Wayne tracks to get you through the middle of the week. All three tracks are off Wayne upcoming “rock” album titled Rebirth. I don’t know if any of these really catch my attention.
While we are on the topic of Wayne and Jeezy – check out the video for “Always Strapped.”
Grynch – Chemistry ft. One Be Lo + Kid Cudi – Excuse My Mood

Grynch – Chemistry ft. One Be Lo
Seattle’s Grynch recruits rapper One Be Lo for the first single off Grynch’s new EP titled Chemistry dropping July 7th. This beat is real refreshing – really feelin this. God I love me some real hip-hop.
I gotta feelin I’m gonna be bumpin this one all week.

This isn’t anything special but I’m down with the Cudi cause. The Kid hops on the Clipse track “Kinda Like A Big Deal.”
Lupe Fiasco – Fire (Unreleased)

FINALLY! I’ve been bumpin this track non-stop since it dropped on the Fake Shore Drive mixtape but the good folks over at SketchesOfMySoul just dropped the NO DJ version of the track. Originally this is just an unreleased Lupe track, seeing the light of day. Dope sample and dope verses. Apparently another Lupe track titled “Shining Down” might be dropping this week? Keep an eye out. Lupe’s new album titled, Lasers is set to drop in the forth quater of this year.
Jordan Looney – Nerd-Hop, Vol. 2 (Mixtape)

Jordan Looney – Nerd-Hop, Vol. 2 (Mixtape)
Jordan Looney has been making some serious noise since he hopped on that Passion Pit joint last week. The track is the first track on his new mixtape Nerd-Hop, Vol. 2 that just dropped. Backet by an some incredible artwork Chicago via St. Paul rapper J. Loonz shows his true skills and versatility as he spits over a variety of different beats.
Also big ups to Jordan for locking down the opening act spot at the upcoming “Exit Fake Shore Drive” concert in Chicago. J. Loonz making some serious noise – bout time!
Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes (Video)
The video for perhaps my favorite non-hip hop track of the year so far. Animal Collective just released the video for the tune “Summertime Clothes” off their latest album Merriweather Post Pavillion. Highly recommend the album if you enjoy this track at all. Just watch it already.
Eyedea & Abilities – Glass (Live at Grand Old Days) + Big Quarters Beat Battle
Brothers Medium Zach and Brandon Allday who make up the Minneapolis hip-hop group Big Quarters battle back and forth for who can come up with the better beats. This performance happened at McNally School of Music’s Hip Hop Diploma event. Dope stuff.
Grouch & Eligh – BOOM! ft. Slug

Grouch & Eligh – BOOM! ft. Slug
These two performed at the after party in Canterbury at Soundset. Met them at their booth as well – nice dudes. Anyway Grouch & Eligh – both members of West Coast hip hop posse The Living Legends hook up with the one and only Slug for the third single off their new album titled Say G&E which actually dropped back in April. But I’ll agree with Mike over at MB, who I swiped the link from, in that this album definitley needs some more attention. Production on the track from Amplive of Zion I and the rest of the album includes guest verses and production from Blu, Sage Francis, Pigeon John, Flying Lotus, Mistah F.A.B just to name a few. The album is in stores now.
I’m about to revist the album right now as I pack up for the summer back in Minnesota.
Clipse Ft. Pharrell – I’m Good (Produced by The Neptunes)

Clipse Ft. Pharrell – I’m Good (Produced by The Neptunes)
(fixed 6/15)
Nothing like some new Clipse to start off the weekend. Just finnished off my last final of the year and I’m heading over to Wrigley Field to see my beloved Twins play the Cubs later this afternoon. Livin’ the life I’m tellin ya.
The Clipse and The Neptunes are like peanut butter and jelly. I love this shit.
This is the first “official” single from the duo’s third album titled Till The Casket Drops which is set to drop later this summer.
Lungz ft. Bo-G & Que B.I.L.L.A.H. – Skinny Jeans (produced by Keeynote)

Lungz ft. Bo-G & Que B.I.L.L.A.H. – Skinny Jeans (Produced by Keeynote)
“I like my pants fitted but I gotta let my balls breathe.”
PWELBS.COM WORLD PREMIERE
I just posted up an interview with my homie Keeynote a few days back and now he just hooked me up with an exclusive track off an upcoming project titled the Initiation mixtape. The track features Chicago MCs – Lungz, Que B.I.L.L.A.H. and Bo-G over a banging beat (and I mean bangin) which features a dope Jay sample.
Had to give my boy PWelbs the exclusive!!! Off the ‘Initiation’ Mixtape hosted by the one and only Jamaal from DePaul featuring exclusive music from Twista, BXC, Kardinal Offishall. Stay in tune, we got y’all!!
Look for more dropping from the Initiation Mixtape real soon.
In case you missed it – check out the interview with Chicago’s very own Keeynote.
P.O.S. – Goodbye (Video)
A few months back P.O.S talked that he would be releasing six videos off his new album Never Better. Mike over at Midwest Broadcast went crate YoutTube diggin and stumbled upon the video for “Goodbye” which is easily one of my favorite tracks off Never Better. Apparently the video dropped with Never Better if you purchased it via iTunes – who knew?
Well 3 of 6 videos P.O.S shot have dropped. Hopefully the next 3 drop real soon! Videos for “Optimist” and “Drumroll” are out now.
Prof & St. Paul Slim – Recession Music Release Party

Prof & St. Paul Slim Present: Recession Music (Free Album)
I wish I could attend this because I love the album and it is still in my daily rotation. Anyway check out a few words from executive producer Ant of Atmosphere about the release show. Stophouse uploaded a couple other promo videos worth watching. One of which includes Ant being Prof and Prof being Ant. Who pulled it off better?
By the way the show is free and you can download a ticket here.
Toki Wright – Day 2 + Fifth Element In-Store Performance Footage
Well Toki Wright’s A Different Mirror dropped yesterday and I must say it has dominated my ears for the last 24 hours. The title track? Hot damn! Anyway here is Toki greeting you for Day 2 of life post the release of A Different Mirror. Also some dope video of Toki performing at Fifth Element just yesterday at an in-store performance. He performs the first single off the album titled “Next Best Thing.”
Look for Toki on B96 tonight at 8PM(CT) as he will be featured on Mr. Peter Parker’s Homegrown HeatRocks Series. Tune in! You can listen online too at B96 Online.
