If you could watch me type this right now – I just sat down from a standing ovation. A dope track just got even doper. Big props to the directors of this video who pulled off the exact feel of how this track grooves. Another Chicago act who simply just needs more attention, Skooda Chose recruits Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids as well as Mr. Chicago himself Twista. Drum heavy Hawaii luao style prodction from Chicago’s Blended Babies. Skooka Chose is set to release his upcoming album sometime this year.
Chicago should be proud of everyone for this one. One of my favorite videos of the summer.

Ali breaks into rhyme as the video progresses into a behind the scenes look at how the album came together – I have a gut feeling that most of the footage is perhaps the making of the final track on the album titled “Us.” It sounds epic already!

As a follow up to his last album Longshot is currently in Minneapolis working on his next album Struggle Music/Living My Dreams. Apparently on top of all this he is also filming his time in the Twin Cities for a documentary titled 300 Days in Minneapolis. What a worker! Looking forward to all these projects coming together. Gotta give my props to someone who spends a lot of time in both Chicago and Minneapolis!

Twin Cities rapper M.anifest comes together with Minneapolis raised New Yorker Sarah White for one hell of a smooth track. It would be impossible to place this into any genre as it has elements of hip-hop, funk, eletronica and more. Dope stuff – look for more coming from the duo soon as well as a EP released by the end of ‘09. Very fresh sound.
S & M = a genre-boundless collaboration between two soaring & critically acclaimed musicians: Sarah White ( Brooklyn-based & Minneapolis raised) and M.anifest (Ghanaian born, Minneapolis resident). The project is of a soulful disposition, has futurefunk aspirations, and owes its foundation to african diasporic rythmns. Its sound is unravelling as a synergy between what we’ve both been doing musically in our solo careers: Soul, Hip-Hop, Electronica, etc. Recording has been sporadic so far. We plan on finishing the many pieces we’ve laid down and present an EP later this year.

The charisma that Detroit’s heavy hitting MC Guilty Simpson and the Los Angeles based Beat Konducta Madlib share is undeniable. A string of songs going back to Guilty’s first appearance on wax (Jaylib’s “Strapped”) testify to a musical kinship that is rare in today’s rapper-as-an-accessory marketplace. To us, Guilty over a Madlib beat is like hearing Guru over Premier circa Daily Operation, or CL over Pete around the time they recorded “Straighten It Out.” Some times, a rapper and a producer just work well together.
The two together making OJ Simpson, Madlib (Otis Jackson) and Guilty Simpson. OJ Simpson is the name of the album. No, you won’t hear Guilty make any references to bloody gloves. No, you won’t catch Madlib driving a bronco. These are some 14 hard hitting, straight from the gutter hip hop tracks featuring Guilty’s inimitable baritone and a couple guest appearances (Elzhi, Strong Arm Steady). Some cuts by J.Rocc. And a whole bunch of attitude. This is one of our favorite projects in a while.
We’re releasing this teaser single – the title track and the needs-nothing-more-than-the-title verbal onslaight that is “Coroner’s Music” – to remind you of the hip hop you’ve missed. The album drops this fall.
