“New Love” feat. appearances by Toki Wright, Big Quarters, and Diametrix.
RELEASE PARTY: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH @ SAUCE
DJ BOOKA B & DJ ESPADA
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS
HOSTED BY FRANZ DIEGO
Dope promo video from St. Paul’s very own Mike Swoop. He has a new album on the way titled “New Love” featuring guest appearances by Toki Wright and Big Quarters. This should be pretty dope! Look for the album to drop sometime in February.
Mos Def – 24 Hour Karate School (prod. Ski Beatz)

Mos Def – 24 Hour Karate School (prod. Ski Beatz)
A new joint from the Grammy nominated Mos Def. No word on where this track will call home but dope nevertheless. Lower quality – perhaps a better one will resurface soon.
Jay Electronica – Exhibit C

Finally.
The track that has kept hip-hop internet nerds (and myself) in a frenzy since it’s conception a few months ago. We have had snippets, radio recordings, etc. Now we have the official CDQ version of “Exhibit C” from the ever so dope Jay Electronica. I don’t know what it is but I just listen to hip-hop differently when I listen to Jay Elect. I had a pleasure watching him open for Mos Def this past summer. This beat is gut busting – all producers wish they produced this track.
If you dig it – support the man and cop it on iTunes. (Comes with clean and instrumental version as well.)
St. Paul Slim – Shut It Down (Prod. Reggie Reg) + Finally

St. Paul Slim – Shut It Down (Prod. Reggie Reg)
We got a couple tracks from the homie St. Paul Slim. With an album titled Bald Headed Samsun on the way in February – we get the first official single from the album. Look for a video for the track coming soon. I love Slim for his flow but also you just don’t hear stuff like this coming out of Minnesota that often.
The second joint has been floating around via Slim’s Twitter – I was waiting for an actual MP3 to drop and it looks like Mike over at MWB snagged a copy. I’m not totally sure if this is another track from the album or is this just an unreleased track. Either way – another one for y’all to enjoy.
Shouts to Soul Tools.
Kid CuDi Interview with Nardwuar (Video)
The most epic interviewer ever – Nardwuar catches up with that Kid CuDi. Hilarious. This dude is the definition of epic. He knows his stuff too – he does some serious research on everyone he interviews. Looks like it was a bit to much for CuDi. Ha
If you don’t know Nardwuar just watch every single one of these videos. Specifically his interview with N*E*R*D. Pharrell is equally caught off guard.
Four Young Money Tracks

- Young Money – Finale
- Young Money – Pass That Dutch
- Young Money – Where’s Wayne?
- Young Money – Ms. Parker
Four new leaks from the Young Money crew. At this point I honestly listen for the Drake verses then Weezy and then the potential one liners from the rest of the crew. I’ll still probably check out the full album (titled We Are Young Money) when it officially drops next Tuesday (12/22.)

Mac Miller – The High Life (Mixtape)

Mac Miller – The High Life (Mixtape)
I hesitate to check any mixtape out from a kid that looks like the stoner who sits next to me in history class. But when it comes to Pittsburgh 17 year old Mac Miller…this kid actually does pretty well. A pretty comfortable rapper this kid has the potential. Definitley check it out if you love stoned out sample based hip-hop…thats just plain fun. Or maybe I’m just dead wrong and trying to convince myself.
Still not sold? Check out his single with fellow Pitt rapper Wiz Khalifa.
Paper Tiger – EPMD 20 MIX

Paper Tiger – EPMD 20 MIX (Right Click + Save As)
Here is the next installment of the ongoing 20 MIX tradition.

Round two from Doomtree producer Paper Tiger. If you don’t know much about the classic hip-hop duo EPMD. Get your education on with this mix.

LA & Mr. Music – The Stars

New club single from Chicago duo LA & Mr. Music. This is a pop club joint but it bumps! Word is this is on rotation over at B96 in Chicago. Congrats fellas!
Also big ups to these fellas for letting use a couple of their tracks on The Airtime Collection X Pwelbs mixtape.

The Roots – Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Sandwhiches EP

The Roots – Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Sandwhiches EP
When The Roots enter and leave a commercial break on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, they perform small sets called “sandwiches”. And since joining the show in March, the crew have composed 1,000 of ‘em. This past weekend, drummer ?uestlove compiled 22 of them into a free EP. Can’t beat that.
Well that says it all. Check out the greatest live band on Earth.
LRG Presents: Outasight – Further

LRG Presents: Outasight – Further (Free Album)
I pretty much checked this out because LRG presented it and it’s brought to you by the same group that helped put out LRG’s Mike Posner and Wale mixtapes. Gotta admit this is a pretty fresh sound. Not your standard hip-hop but this guy is on to something. Production is on point too. Interesting stuff.

I.B.E ft. Toki Wright – Make the Road by Walkin
Official video for “Make The Road by Walkin” from Twin Cities MC who goes by the name I.B.E. and has been the hypeman for Twin Cities legend I Self Devine. With a guest verse fellow former hypeman Toki Wright – this track is impressive and the video along with it.
I.B.E. = Intelligent Black Enterprise. This is some serious talent coming out of the Twin Cities.
shouts to MWB.
Lil Wayne – Drop The World ft. Eminem + Charles Hamilton – Air Agains

Lil Wayne – Drop The World ft. Eminem
There has been a great deal of hype around this track since it was annouced. Gotta say it lives up to the hype. This will probably be the only dope track off Weezy’s rock effort titled Rebirth. Eminem SNAPS.
+++

3rd leak from Charles Hamilton’s album Normalcy, that is supposed to drop this Friday. Like I’ve said I’m not the world’s biggest CH fan but all three of these tracks have been pretty good.
Add-2 – Luxury (Video)
This is so Chicago – perfect stuff. Video for “Luxury” from Add-2’s ever so dope mixtape Tale of Two’s City, Vol. 3 (The Rise and Fall.)
Add-2: Tale of Two’s City, Vol. 3 (The Rise and Fall) (Mixtape)
Mos Def DJ Semtex Interview (Video) + Lupe Fiasco Interview (Audio)
Part 2 of the Mos Def interview I posted earlier this week. Part 3 on the way soon. Good stuff! Mos gives his opinion on albums of the years, best club joints, producers, films etc. Interesting answers.
+++
Lupe calls in to the radio show and talks about Enemy Of The State mixtape, being an underdog, solar midnight and how that happened, producing his own music, the climb on Mt. Kilimanjaro and being nervous about going to Africa, and more. Part 2 coming in a few days!
- Jessie Maguire
5 good minutes with Lupe Fiasco.
Mike Posner – Drug Dealer Girl (Video) + One Foot Out the Door – Episode #4 (Web Series)
Huge post right here. First off we have the much anticipated official video for Mike Posner’s “Drug Dealer Girl” above. I like how the video turned out – starring model Rosa Acosta. This is the track that first got me hooked on Posner. I wonder what song will eventually launch him into the mainstream spot light. This underground college crowd cult following can’t stay last forever.
Below we have episode #4 from Mike Posner’s web series One Foot Out The Door which is dope because it is basically the making of the “Drug Dealer Girl” video.
In the fourth episode of Mike Posner’s web series “One Foot Out The Door”, Mike rallies the troops at Duke and shoots a viral video for “Drug Dealer Girl” starring Rosa Acosta all while going to class. Mike also introduces his DJ Khaled-inspired mantra “hits…straight hits.”
Tune in as Mike deals with the pressures of finishing college with a record deal, what his life will be post-graduation and his upcoming packed itinerary. Episode 5 finds Mike returning home to Michigan for 2 shows, seeing some childhood friends and meeting Mike’s sister.

Original songs are Kanye’s “Say You Will” and PRGz’ “Rollin.”
Young Jeezy – Money to Blow (Remix) + YP – Switch It Up
Young Jeezy – Money to Blow (Remix)
Jeezy adds some bars to the Birdman’s “Money To Blow.” Original track features Drake and Weezy. Wow, Birdman really does suck.

Dessa – Dixon’s Girls

Preorder Dessa’s new full-length album, A Badly Broken Code, to get a signed copy of the disc delivered by January 19. Fans who pre-order will also get exclusive access to a live broadcast of Dessa’s rehearsal for her CD release show. You’ll be able to preview music from the album, listen to singers interpret the songs, and even send in your questions to Dessa and the other musicians.
A Badly Broken Code is the long-awaited full-length album from Dessa. The disc features production from Paper Tiger, Lazerbeak, Cecil Otter, MK Larada, and Big Jess. The fifteen songs emphasize Dessa’s wingspan as a singer, rapper, and lyricist—the tracks range from melancholy a cappella arrangements to vintage torch songs to infectious rap cuts.
With Dessa’s album on the way – it drops Jan. 19th, we get a first glimpse at what the project will sound like. I’m a way bigger Dessa fan when she is just rapping. Just saying. The production for the album looks to be Doomtree heavy – can’t complain about that!
Pre-order A Badly Broken Code right now over at Doomtree.net.
MWB with the linkage.
Brother Ali Sound Pass Interview (Video)
A nice six minute interview with good ole Brother Ali. Pretty standard but interesting interesting interview for Ali fans.

Mos Def – DJ SEMTEX Interview (Video)
Mos Def hit the UK recently, and he passed through my 1xtra radio show on the eve of copping his Grammy Nominations.
Mos talks on:
*His approach to making albums.
*That Mos/J Cole/Jay Electronica/Talib Kweli collabo.
*The genius of Slick Rick.
*Mos Def vs. Hollywood
*Turning down a role in Tropic Thunder.
Wow that track sounds like a monster record. Can’t wait to here that. Good interview.
