Aloe Blacc – I Need a Dollar (prod. Truth & Soul)

Aloe Blacc – I Need a Dollar (prod. Truth & Soul)

This is one of those times where I’m just so blown away by a song that I don’t have much to say. This song is perfect. I’ve seen his name around but I never followed up on him until now. Sure glad I did. His new album Good Things is on the way.

It is also the theme song for the new HBO show How To Make It In America.

2dopeboyz with the linkage.

XV – 30 Minute Layover (Mixtape)

XV – 30 Minute Layover (Mixtape)

Just listened through the tape and it will definitely do as a prelude to XV’s upcoming full length mixtape titled Vizzy Zone. Dope stuff right here. Easily on the list of the 10 best up and comers in the hip-hop game right now. A 30 minute breath of fresh air in this crowded hip-hop world. Look out for Vizzy Zone – March 26th.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League & Don Cannon present Laws – 4:57PM (Mixtape)

Laws – 4:57PM (Mixtape)

I’m completely guilty of judging a book by its cover when it comes to this mixtape. Big mistake. All these beats are FIRE….and this dude can spit. Some real talent with this Tampa Bay, Florida emcee. Plus I just knew it had to be good when J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League was behind it.  The video below sold me too. If your still not sold please check out the lead single from the project.

Laws – Hold You Down (prod. DJ Khalil) [NoDJ]

Estelle ft. Kardinal Offishall – Freak (prod. David Guetta)

I don’t know…something about these 3 artists on one song sounded pretty interesting. Not sure what I think.

Killer Mike ft. Ludacris & Game – Still My Nigga

Killer Mike ft. Ludacris & Game – Still My Nigga

How often do we get Luda and Game together on a track? I honestly haven’t listened to a Killer Mike album in my life. I think I might just have to check out his discography.

Game – where the new album at? Were waiting.

Freddie Gibbs – Slammin’

Another fresh one off Freddie’s upcoming mixtape titled Str8 Killa No Fill.

Franz Diego – Break Up (Remix)

Franz Diego – Break Up (Remix)

The homie Franz Diego over a Mario/Gucci Mane beat? I couldn’t ask for more.

This beat is fire. The beat may also sound familiar if you heard it on Weezy’s No Ceilings mixtape. Produced by Bangladesh (who also did “A Milli.”)

Murs – 3:16 pt.2 (prod. 9th Wonder)

Murs – 3:16 pt.2 (prod. 9th Wonder)

This will not be on the upcoming Murs & 9th Wonder album…but they wanted to give us a taste of what they are cooking up anyway. Should be amazing. Look for the album titled Fornever to drop March 30th.

9th fans will go ga-ga over this one.

Sidenote: As much as it pains me…I already forgot a Felt album got released this year. *sigh*

Cypress Hill ft. Marc Anthony & Pitbull – Armada Latina

Cypress Hill ft. Marc Anthony & Pitbull – Armada Latina (Produced by Jim Jonsin)

Marc Anthony had to think it was a joke when he first got a call from Cypress Hill. Jim Jonsin (Lollipop, Kiss Me Thru The Phone, Whatever You Like) really nailed it on the production for this one. Also I wanted to shed a little light on Cypress Hill’s new release. Should be interesting to say the least. It could be good – check the tracklist. I like this joint though……come on I had to slip a weed reference in somewhere.

Nero, Esso & Mikkey Halsted – CDR Freestyles (Video) + Tyga – I’m So Raw (Video)

Damn! When did Tyga get like this?

Dave Coresh – Mixtape Announcement + Live Footage

Last Thursday Dave Coresh performed at “PopThemThangs” w/ Donnis and previewed a track from his forthcoming mixtape Formal Introduction.  Roper caught some nice footage; Formal Introduction (Mixed/Hosted by DJ Tay James) is set to drop March 8th.

We got two news items from the camp of Mr. Dave Coresh. First off, up top we have a flyer announcing that we will have a mixtape from Coresh in the coming weeks. Good shit! Definitely keeping an eye out for that.

Below we got some footage of Dave opening up for Donnis at Lincoln Hall last week. Fortunately I caught the end of Dave’s set just as I was arriving. New track sounds dope.

Shouts to Q&Q Entertainment and the whole Jugrnaut family.

XV – Life The Game

XV – Life The Game

Over Weezy’s “Drop The World.” XV will be dropping a mixtape titled 30 Minute Layover this Friday where he drops 10 freestyles in 30 minutes. Hopefully this holds us over till the release of his new album Vizzy Zone, which is set to drop sometime this spring/summer.

How To Make It In America (Episode 2)

New show you can catch over on HBO. In case you missed the first episode – check it out here.

I like it so far. I really like the ideas and story behind it, the music and the target market. I think it’s pretty unfair that people are comparing it to Entourage. Of course there are some similarities but not many. Some of the acting is iffy here and there but I’m pretty critical of that stuff. I will with out a doubt be watching every episode of the season.

Here is a brief synopsis:

“Follows two enterprising twentysomethings hustling their way through New York City’s fashion scene, determined to achieve their version of the American Dream. Trying to make a name for themselves in the city’s competitive fashion scene, Ben Epstein and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon use their street knowledge and connections to make their way up. With the help of their well-connected friend Domingo and Cam’s cousin Rene, who was ambitions of his own — a new energy drink called Rasta-Monsta — the burgeoning entrepreneurs set out to make it big.”

Kanye West – Coldest Winter (Video)

This is the official video for Kanye’s “Cold Winter” which is of course on the now infamous 808s & Heartbreaks. Yeah that dropped a year and change ago. Also Kanye is not in the video.

Snoop Dogg – That Tree ft. KiD CuDi (prod. Diplo)

Snoop Dogg – That Tree ft. KiD CuDi (prod. Diplo)

It hurts me to say it but I honestly could careless what Snoop is doing right now. I loved The Blue Carpet Treatment. Ego Trippin was ok – yeah I know I forgot about it too until I was trying to figure out which album “Sexual Eruption” was on. Snoops latest album Malice In Wonderland didn’t get me at all….if anything I’m sick of “I Wanna Rock” more than I am of Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say.”

Ok maybe not but this is one is being posted for the other two very talented artists involved in this track. Kid CuDi and Diplo? This is fire.

This will be on Snoop’s re-release of the album titled More Malice…if we needed that.

Chiddy Bang – Opposite of Adults (Video)

I’m a few days late on this one. I’ve had a crazy last few weeks and I’m going to try and get my shit together this week so just be cool. Along with being to damn busy my blogging service – Tumblr – has decided to change up how you post videos etc. I won’t bored you with the details but it’s a rather frustrating process and makes posting a hassle. Toki Wright – BlackMale EP

Toki Wright – BlackMale EP

Friends and Family,
First off thank you for your continued support. Since the release of my debut full length album “A Different Mirror” in June I’ve been continuing to work hard to bring you more. In the last six months I’ve traveled tour the country, released new videos, and been working daily to provide you with more original work.

“BlackMale” is an 8 song digital EP of all brand new music. Seeing that it is Black History month it seemed like a fitting to release this interpretation of African-American manhood. I worked closely with Benzilla, Reggie Reg, Greg Greaze, PC, and Mike Swoop to craft this project. This project was also made possible by the Minnesota State Arts Board’s Cultural Community Partnership Grant. I set the foundation for this project with an organization called CRUNC (Community Roots Under New Construction).

“BlackMale” is available for free download, or as a “choose your own amount” donation. You can give whatever amount you see fit. My friend Jeanine Estime will be returning to her homeland of Haiti to hand out basic needs items (soap, toothpaste, asprin, etc) to people in her old neighborhood that were effected by the earthquake. All donations from the digital downloads will go directly to her via me.

I’m also proud to announce I will headlining my first tour titled the “Black Belt Tour” with Haziq Ali (Organized Rhyme/Atlanta), and Omaur Bliss. Stop by one of the tour dates below to hear new music from the EP and “A Different Mirror.”
