Sugar Tongue Slim – Demand More 2 (Mixtape)

STS – Demand More 2 (Mixtape)

This man has the best name in hip-hop. Very creative mixtape. A pretty good selection of beats (some industry) and STS with a doubt holds his own. The original beats on this mixtape are FIRE too. I think we are going to be hearing a lot more from this dude in the coming months.

By the way I died when I heard the sample used on track “Dec 5th.” Shouts to that producer for diggin’ that up and flippin’ it right.

Brother Ali & Fashawn – Breakin’ Dawn Boys (prod. BK-One & Brother Ali)

In anticipation of their upcoming tour – Brother Ali, XXL Freshmen Fashawn and BK-One come together for an incredible tour theme song. Ali, Evidence and Toki Wright did something similar for their tour this past fall. This is literally hot off the press, Fashawn was just tweeting about being in the studio with Ali last night. Incredible production from BK-One is a perfect backdrop for Ali and Fashawn to trade verses. A rookie and a veteran coming together to make a track that is the definition of hip-hop.

Mishka and Greedhead Ent. Present: Das Racist – Shut Up, Dude (Mixtape)

Mishka and Greedhead Ent. Present: Das Racist – Shut Up, Dude (Mixtape)

I don’t think I’ve heard anything like this in my entire life. This is unbelievably catchy stuff but also the weirdest stuff I’ve ever heard. I already know some people will think this is the worst thing they have ever heard in their life. Hearing new music like this definitely gets me thinking about the future and evolution of music and genres. But listening to this makes me feel like the butt end of a joke.

Das Racist (Brooklyn, New York) pull elements from hip-hop, house, reggae, folk and Top 40 pop music to create some serious stoned out party anthems. I’m literally having trouble trying to describe this music in words.  All I know is… I’m might be sold. I’m not really sure yet. I could easily see some of these tunes making college party playlists in the coming months. Just listen to this with an open mind. You have never heard something like this before.

Wood Shock Watches

I might start posting more and more random ass shit on here. For example designs and concepts I like etc… PRPLMNT and Saint48 combine forces to create something pretty dope. I’ll leave it to Pete over at The Goodie Bag.

Wooden accessories seems to be a hot commodity these days with brands like GoodWood NYC leading the way with their popular Jesus pieces. However, there is a new brand to take notice of. PRPLMNT and Saint48 have collaborated together to produce Wood Shock watches. Wood Shock takes the classic G-Shock watch and outfits it with a hand/laser crafted wood bezel for their custom W-Shock piece. The watches are fully functional and are available in two colours, black or red. More colourways and editions to be released soon.  W-Shocks are now available for $260.00 USD on their official webstore.

Kid Quo – Big Bang Theory (Mixtape)

Kid Quo – Big Bang Theory (Mixtape)

I was an immediate fan of Kid Quo when he dropped his eQuonomy EP last year. Currently Kid Quo resides in Madison, Wisconsin but he also has roots in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Quo hops on a variety of different industry beats but makes them his own. Very clever stuff that brings a breath of fresh air.

LUNGZ – Skateboard Gangsta (Video)

This is incredibly well done. Big ups to everyone involved. I really love this track too. This track can be found on Sean Mac’s Go Sk8 of Mind mixtape. Shot and directed by Chris and Blaq over at Impakt Studios. Excellent visuals fellas! -Fake Shore Drive

I just swiped what I wrote over at Fake Shore Drive but LUNGZ is a dope up and comer out of Chicago I suggest y’all check out. I’ll be posting up this Sean Mac Go Sk8 of Mind mixtape when it hits the net.

Four New Tracks From Rick Ross

Four new tunes from Rawwwse.

Prof – Animal (Video)

Some festive visuals from the biggest party animal in the state of Minnesota. Off Prof’s Kaiser Von Powderhorn 2 EP.

Prof – Kaiser Von Powderhorn 2 (EP)

I also spotted some threads from Twin Cities clothing line Check Your Six – pick up their stuff here. That throw back Timberwolves look is one of their designs.

St. Paul Slim – Wax Garlic

St. Paul Slim – Wax Garlic

Hell yeah! A brand new one from St. Paul Slim off his upcoming album Bald-Headed Samsun which is set to drop May 1st. Very excited to hear the final outcome of this album. I really enjoyed “Shut It Down” when it dropped a month or so ago.

shouts to the homie Tom Dean.

DOM Kennedy – From The Westside With Love

DOM Kennedy – From The Westside With Love

Some dope new school west coast hip-hop from that dude DOM Kennedy. I’ve enjoyed everything this dude has put out. It has that west coast flavor but the feeling of something new. Nipsey, Fashawn, Jay Rock and DOM are bringing the west back.

Diggy – Come to Rock

Diggy – Come to Rock (Produced by Snake Eyes)

New music from 15 year old Diggy Simmons – who just signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. This time he goes over a Led Zepplin sample and it’s pretty solid.

KiD CuDi – Soundtrack To My Life (Video)

Incredibly dope images from Kid CuDi’s latest tour serve as the visuals for the track “Soundtrack To My Life” off CuDi’s debut album. I love this song!

Cudder couldn’t come any sooner…

Directed by Jason Goldwatch.

Fashawn – Life’s A Bitch ft. Talib Kweli

Fashawn – Life’s A Bitch ft. Talib Kweli

A slick new one from West Coaster Fashawn who was recently featured on XXL’s Freshmen list. This one is off his upcoming mixtape which is a tribute to Illmatic. This track is some serious heat. If you haven’t checked out Fashawn’s album Boy Meet’s World – please do so now for your own sake. One of my favorite albums from last year.

Kidz In The Hall – Fresh Academy ft. Chip Tha Ripper & Donnis

Fresh stuff! One of my favorite tracks off Kidz In The Hall’s new album Land of Make Believe, which is in stores now. Chip and Donnis guest verses are both dope.

The Dean’s List – Ready To Go + I’ll Be Okay

The Dean’s List are a pop/hip-hop group out of Boston. Now this is some sugary sweet stuff right here but it definitely has some serious serious potential. Catchy as hell – I can see this launching into the mainstream any minute if it gets put in the right hands. Check this stuff out if you like Mike Posner, Kid CuDi, Sam Adams, Chiddy Bang, Big Sean, Taio Cruz etc….

With summer right around the corner – add this to your party playlists.

You can hear a few more tracks and read up a bit on the crew over at their website.

Donnis – OD (Prod. by Needlz)

A fresh new joint from one of my favorite new MCs. Can’t wait to see this dude’s career get bigger and better. This one is off his upcoming mixtape titled Fashionably Late. Lovin’ this one.

FakeShoreDrive Interview with J.Cole + RubyHornet TV: J. Cole Interview (Video)

DJ RTC of RubyHornet.com sits down with J. Cole while for an in-depth interview in the Lone Star state. J. Cole talks about how life has changed since a year ago, how the response has gone from hype to props, and distinguishing himself from other up and coming artists without being a jerk. Check it out.

Well done interview!

Shawn Chrystopher – The Audition EP

Shawn Chrystopher – The Audition EP

I’ve been waiting a long time for this one. Easily the best work I’ve  heard from Mr. Shawn Chrystopher. I think Shawn has really found himself with this one. Presented by Mick Boogie, Terry Urban and Elitaste.

Asher Roth & DJ Wreckineyez – Seared Fois Gras w/ Quince And Cranberry

Asher Roth & DJ Wreckineyez – Seared Fois Gras with Quince And Cranberry

I’ve always been a casual fan of Asher Roth. His mixtapes are way more interesting than his album was. Some intriguing guest features on this one from Talib Kweli, Blu, B.o.B. and Pac Div. Also some excellent beat selections for Asher to keep us occupied. Worth a listen I’d say. I love college.
