I’m a few days late on this as I was back in Minneapolis for Soundset. This was the soundtrack on my flight back to Chicago this morning. Really good stuff!
Chicago stand up!
spotted at all things Chicago, Fake Shore Drive.
After months of silence, the greatest returns with a track that can only be described as powerful. Blast the volume on this one. Is there anyone in the hip-hop game more important than Kanye West?
This is “supposedly” the first single off Kanye’s 5th studio album titled Good Ass Job. Everything I have read about the album has been incredible and it can’t come soon enough.
The track was produced by both Symbolic 1 and Kanye West and features guest vocals from Dwele. Word is that Drake passed on the beat.
“I had the chance to listen to the new Kanye West album. I think that people are going to be shocked. His precedent was crazy, this new one goes even further.”
Y’all know who had it first. Fake Shore Drive.
As if we haven’t had enough T.I. already this week it just gets better. Brand new mixtape from Mr. Clifford Harris himself.
Stream below if you so choose. King Uncaged drops August 17th.
This track is wild as shit. Can we get an Outkast album soon?
Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty drops July 6th.
More good stuff from Mr. Pugs Atomz and Mr. Grant Parks.
Kinda Like A Rapper drops June 1st. Support and buy it over at Fat Beats.

Split Second – Polos & Solos (Mixtape) (Hosted by DJ Mendoza)
This is hosted by DJ Mendoza of The Dean’s List so I was naturally interested. Split Second are three fellas from around the country (CA, CT and NYC) who all met at boarding school in Connecticut. They have that preppy east coast college, hip hop party music feel. Nah mean? Anyway – check it out if you want some fun music for the weekend. Good tape fellas!
Check them out on Facebook.
The homie Kil Ripkin drops some real slick visuals for his track “Not You.” Always good to see new things from this Brooklyn native.
Cameos from Torae and Camp Lo. Produced by Eric G. Directed by Science Projects
shouts to Phil.
Mike P drops some trippy ass visuals for his hit “Cooler Than Me.” This video turned out very nice. Some cool concepts.
Just as a note – the original version of this song featured Big Sean and sounded quite different. You can find it on Posner’s first mixtape A Matter of Time. A remixed version of the track appeared on Posner’s latest mixtape One Foot Out The Door. The cool part? Remixer Gigamesh is from Minneapolis! Congrats!
Every time I have a conversation about Major Lazer (and/or Dup Step) the topic of the future of music comes up. So take that for what it’s worth.
Also if you haven’t checked out Major Lazer’s debut album Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, plan on soiling yourself.

Yet another fresh one from ATL’s Donnis. Fashionably Late drops on June 22nd.
I’m always fuckin’ down for some new material from Doom and Madlib. I guess these two have been working on follow up album since 2009. Adult Swim dropped this one as part of their singles program.
All I know is, this is a pleasant surprise!
Royce recruits fellow Detroit native Big Sean for this bonus track on the deluxe edition off Street Hop.
spotted at NahRight.
I haven’t talked about this album in a minute. Although I just listened through the entire for the first time today. For the most part I like how it came out.
Easily one of the best bands on the planet.
Word is this will be the first radio single off T.I.’s King Uncaged which drops late August. Radio ready indeed. Three leaks in and this album seems to be shaping up real nice. Looks like it’s going to be the summer of T.I. – I’m totally fine with that.
Produced by DJ Toomp.
Pill’s new tape 1140: The Overdose drops on June 1st. Didn’t realize that was dropping so soon. Good news to say the least!
New music from Ricky Ross. Off his upcoming Albert Anastasia EP.
spotted at illRoots.
The homie Pugs Atomz rolled through Bad Service this past Sunday and played some new joints off his upcoming album Kinda Like A Rapper exclusively produced by Grant Parks. Shout out to the lucky few that caught the show. Video of the interview coming this week!
The album drops June 1st but Pugs felt y’all need a little bit of a warm up before the album….and from what I’ve heard I think you do to. So check this full mixtape of new material. You are not ready for this heat.
Shouts to Pugs, Grant and the Coalmine crew for coming in!
A fresh new one from the Doomtree beatsmith. Off his upcoming solo album Made Like Us. Guest vocals from Dessa make it even better.
Made Like Us drops July 27th. Two days after my birthday!
Throw ya wings up.
2dopeboyz had it first.
This has summer anthem written all over. This is exactly what I was looking for. T.I.’s new mixtape F*ck a Mixtape drops sometime tomorrow. This has that old school T.I. feeling. I can not wait to hear more!
King Uncaged coming August 17th.
Yeah yeah…two Drake tracks in a row. I know. A radio rip had dropped earlier this week but I was waiting till this higher quality version dropped. Many are saying this easily the best leak off the album so far. I wrote everything in the post below after I heard this song….so I’m sticking with that. This is still ok…..but the beat kind of annoys me to be honest. Always good to see Weezy.
Once again, Thank Me Later drops June 1st.
…and for you college radio DJs.
I really have yet to be impressed by anything that has leaked from Drake’s debut album Thank Me Later. Then again, I wasn’t feeling So Far Gone at all when it originally dropped. I like this one the most so far I guess…I found myself shrugging my shoulders multiple times while writing this entry.
Thank Me Later drops June 15th.
What y’all think?
This is Nipsey’s first single from South Central State of Mind, out August 31st.
Interesting choice for a guest feature but I’ll let it slide. I get what he is going for and it’s pulled off effectively. Everyone needs that breakout single. Not sure this is it though…but what the hell do I know. I dropped an extra track below – I almost like that one better.
both spotted at NahRight.
I love tracks that just spell out summer. Production from Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids.
This one is off Skooda’s Top Five Material Part 2. As if it could get any better a remix and video are on the way too.
