925ve – The Big Payback (Mixtape)
No clue how this slipped past me back in January. Met the homie Prizm this past week and he told me a little about the project. I’m impressed. Solid diverse beats and a variety of rhymes. Appearances from Mally, Big Quaters and Franz Diego too!

The Weeknd – House Of Balloons (Mixtape)
The Weeknd – House Of Balloons (Mixtape)
There is a bit of mystery behind this group of Toronto based R&B crooners. Rumor has it 40 (Drake’s producer) is related to the project. At this point no official members have come forth. All I know is that I find it rather refreshing and further transforms modern R&B. Trust me – I’m no R&B fan…which further proves how interesting and accessible I find this project.
Here is a great article on the group over at The Village Voice.

Big Sean – My Last ft. Chris Brown (Video)
I’m still not sure this it the single that will take Big Sean to the next level. I certainly hope another joint off Big Sean’s upcoming album will help him pick up a little more steam. Guess we will find out when Finally Famous: The Album drop Tuesday, May 3rd.
Chris Brown can suck it.
Mac Miller – On And On
Mac just dropped Best Day Ever, but that’s not enough. The Pittsburgh emcee is dropping a free EP in the coming weeks. This is the titular track off the project. Produced by ID Labs.

Lipset – Misled ft. Alissa Paris
Lipset – Misled ft. Alissa Paris
Ran into the homie Lipset last night! It’s so nice to be working with good people. Anyway, here is a personal favorite off Lipset’s Level Heads LP which dropped back in November. Lip is for the people, recall he is releasing the album track-by-track for free. Below Lip has some background behind this specific track.
“Misled” is a song that was never meant to be, but has come to be the favorite song on the Level Heads LP to many. The beat was masterfully crafted by Lokes in such a way that it jumps from key to key, has different breakdowns in tempo, and purposefully misleads the listener to keep you engaged. Lyrically, it’s about breaking molds, tip-toeing the boundaries that we all conform to and challenge in order to stay fresh, hip, relevant and ahead of the game.
Shouts to Lip! Lyrics after the jump!

We want to portray what life and music represent to people of all aspects, by making music that speaks from the heart. It’s not just college rap, its more than that. We don’t really see ourselves in a lane, or genre right now. – TDL

Sir Michael Rocks – The Rocks Report (Mixtape)
I’ve really been looking forward to the release of this tape. Mikey (1/2 of The Cool Kids) has been dropping some serious gems over the past couple of months. It’s only a matter of time before we saw the release of Sir Michael Rocks’ solo debut. Dope production and guest features serve as the icing on the cake.
