A Letter From Pwelbs!

What’s good all?

As I’m sure many of you regulars have noticed – PWELBS.COM has slowed down quite a bit as of late. In all honestly, this is a good problem to have! I’m in a position to be working on projects that I only dreamed of a few short years ago. For the first time in my life I’m completely surrounded by the most creative people I’ve ever met. This has put me in an extremely inspired and positive place. BUT! Have no fear, a new fresher version of PWELBS.COM will be jumpstarted early this fall. With that said – I’d like to fill you in on what I’ve been up to. I’ve outlined below some of my more recent projects and will be steadily keeping you updated throughout the next few months.

First off – I’m constantly tweeting over at my account @Pwelbs. That’s the best way to reach me and I’m constantly talking about new music, tech, pop culture and the various projects I’m working on.

Below info on CrowdNoize, whysowhite, Radio DePaul, Fake Shore Drive and Mally & The Sundance Kid.

CrowdNoize.com – This is the beast…and it’s my baby. CrowdNoize is a curated look at hip-hop and electronic events in 3-cities here in the Midwest. We cover concerts, meet & greets, fashion shows…if it’s a part of the culture, we fill you in on it. With a home base in Chicago we have also expanded to our neighbors to the North, Milwaukee and Madison. With a Twin Cities version on the horizon (alongside cities on both coasts) and some extremely exciting plans for the future – definitely keep up with everything we’re doing. We will have a announcement and other exciting details at our 1st year anniversary this September. We truly believe we’re going to change the live music experience.

whysowhite – I currently have an amazing opportunity to manage an extremely talented group of individuals. whysowhite is a 7-piece hip-hop funk band located here in Chicago. These guys have amazing potential; I’m honored to be a part of the entire movement these guys are the face of. With an album in the works and several live shows scheduled through out the fall, these guys definitely have me busy…but I couldn’t be happier to work alongside them. Head over to whysowhite.com to check them out.

The guys won both UIC and Northwestern’s Battle of the Bands and have shared the stage with B.o.B., Chiddy Bang, The New Pornographers, Gift of Gab and many more!

Fake Shore Drive – I’m still a contributor at without a doubt one of the best hip-hop blogs on the net right now. Founder Andrew Barber has put together an incredible team of writers who focus on the hip-hop scene here in Chicago. The content is soooo high quality.

Trust me, some serious stuff is getting cooked up over at FSD. Stay updated @FakeShoreDrive.

Music Dealers – I’m currently interning at Music Dealers, a full-service music licensing company in Chicago’s West-Loop. I’m working on several projects over here and they are definitely keeping me busy. If you’d like information read below and feel free to reach me at my Music Dealers e-mail.

We’re a full-service Music Licensing company that connects quality artists from around the world with leading brands, networks, advertising agencies, film production houses and gaming companies. We have real artists making real music, and it’s all pre-cleared for quick and easy licensing. No hassle, no haggle, no headache.

Radio DePaul (Filter Magazine/American Eagle Project) -  I’m currently leading a small team in putting together a playlist for over 1,000 American Eagle stores in collaboration with Filter Magazine. Many more details to come but put a big circle around Augusts 30th! I’ve just graduated from DePaul University this past spring so my time at Radio DePaul is closing on quite the high note.

Check out a press release from DePaul University surrounding the whole project.

Side note: I’ll be doing two radio shows – “Bad Service”  Sunday nights (8-10PM) and “Chicken & Waffles” every Tuesday (10-midnight) throughout the summer.

Mally & The Sundance Kid – I’m always helping where I can with my dudes Mally & The Sundance Kid. This rapper production duo is the most promising hip-hop talent that I’ve seen come out of Minnesota since P.O.S. – I truly believe in these guys and I’m so glad to be a part of the team behind them. Stay on the lookout – the duo will be releasing a proper EP this Fall.

Listen to their stuff here: Mally BandCamp

Rest of the team: The Airtime Collection (MPLS streetwear) + Wear Eric (MPLS Streetwear)
